We recently sat down with Jamal Rashad to talk shop on pausing the outside noise, tapping into self, and the power of music to heal through heartbreak, life, and dream-chasing.

And in that we also addressed the elephant in the room: a season has a beginning AND an end. Jamal shared his experience with setting boundaries to allow space to be present for the difficult moments but also to move forward with your life in joy and peace.

Black men aren’t asked often enough, to talk about how they feel; it shows when they are given space to be expressive. Jamal’s range of facial expressions, tones, and waves of smiles let me know that while Black men may not be as expressive as they should feel empowered to, they do feel deeply.
